HE'S no longer Sunrise's resident weatherman, but Grant Denyer has landed himself a risky new hosting gig, and he's sticking with Channel 7.
Seven has revealed that the ex-weather guru will step in as the ringmaster of their all-new entertainment program, SlideShow.
"What does a bloke do when he's done almost everything there is to do as Sunrise weathergirl? SlideShow!" the 35-year-old said of his new venture.
The weekly show will feature comedians Cal Wilson and Toby Truslove as fearless team captains, who will also be joined each week by some big names - hopefully.
Two teams of guests including actors, comedians and sporting personalities will perform a series of improvised challenges - from songs and dances to mimes and sketches.
"This is such an exciting new concept. We're not changing lives or giving away big cash prizes. It's pure entertainment. And I love that. It's going to be unpredictably hilarious. I can't wait," Denyer added.
"SlideShow is, simply, the most fun show on TV. It's big, brassy, totally laugh-out-loud with a fresh and hilarious new twist on performance-based comedy. Exactly what we all need in this election year," CEO of Shine Australia, Mark Fennessy said.
With Seven's other new program, Celebrity Splash, making waves this week, it seems the network is really running with the adventure game show format. But will it just be a re-vamped version of 1990's fave Who Dares Wins?
Based on a successful new format from France, SlideShow begins production in May, and will air on Seven later this year.
