CELEBRITY Splash has been dumped from its 7.30pm prime-time slot after tanking in the ratings.

The move comes just over a week after Channel 7’s celebrity dive show made its debut.

Monday night’s first semi-final episode of Celebrity Splash bombed with a lowly 821,000 viewers nationally.

It was thrashed by rival Nine’s The Voice which averaged a whopping 1.962 million viewers.

Seven has now decided that Celebrity Splash’s second semi-final  – scheduled for next Monday night - won’t screen at all.

Celebrity Splash’s Grand Final will now screen on Thursday May 16 at 8.45pm. It had reportedly been earmarked for a prime Sunday slot.

"Celebrity Splash was an awful show lacking any style at all,” media analyst Steve Allen says.

"It was not good enough to go up against The Voice. It (the ratings failure) doesn’t surprise me at all."

The decision to condense Celebrity Splash is a blow for hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies who successfully front Seven’s The Morning Show.

The show debuted to 1.315 million viewers nationally on Monday April 29 but dropped to 1.045 million on April 30 before sinking again this week.
