NICE guys don't always finish first. Tasmania's Mick and Matt have been eliminated from My Kitchen Rules.

The father-and-son pair failed to survive a sudden death cook-off against South Australian domestic goddesses Jenna and Joanna.

Matt dropped the F-bomb as frustration with his father’s bossy attitude boiled over.

"I wish I could have talked dad into maybe letting me make a couple more decisions without him trying to take over," Matt said after the show.

Mick and Matt were widely regarded as the most popular team on the Channel 7 cooking show.

Their three-course menu of hot and spicy prawns, grilled trevally and cappuccino cheesecake scored a dismal 31 out of 60.

Jenna and Joanna triumphed with 42 out of 60 for their menu of squid, braised beef ribs, and mango mousse.

Things turned fiery between Mick and Matt as the sudden-death pressure tore their teamwork apart.

Matt was the designated boss but that didn’t stop a Mick mutiny as the pair was plating up its main.

Matt let fly with the F-bomb as Mick said he was taking over, but the pair made up after the show.

"The highlight for me was cooking with Dad," Matt told hosts Pete Evans and Manu Feildel. "I can’t wait to go home and keep cooking and keep experimenting."

Guest judges including Guy Grossi, Karen Martini and Liz Egan criticised Mick and Matt’s chilli sauce for being too sweet.

The Tassie team’s fish was overcooked and their cheesecakes were grainy.

There was plenty of swearing from Jenna and Joanna as well. Their squid entree was deemed bland and their beef main was undercooked.

They were forced to abandon a coconut sago pudding to go with their mousse dessert.

The My Kitchen Rules contestants were full of praise for Mick and Matt after the elimination.

"You don’t see honest people that often so it is hard to see them go," Victoria’s Craig said.

My Kitchen Rules will feature another sudden-death cook-off, and elimination, on Thursday night.

MKR's Italian stallions, Nic and Rocco, kick off their campaign in the cooking competition in style.
