A STORM victim in the US has become the latest internet viral sensation after giving a hilariously exuberant description of hailstones slamming into her home.

Michelle Clarke's apartment in Brookshire, southeast Texas, was battered by storms late last week and when local television reporters turned up, Ms Clarke launched into a lively rant about the size of the hailstones.

"Man those jokers were big. Size of a quarter, doggone!'' she told one journalist.

"It was like - kapooya! kapooya!

"Oh boy, hail just came in and I opened my door and I looked out my door.

"I ran to the restroom and I called my mama to see was she alright.''

Footage of the interview has gained millions of views online and spawned dozens of "mashup'' remixes, including an autotune version with Ms Clarke's words set to an R&B soundtrack.

News interviews are proving to be fertile ground for viral videos.

Kimberly Wilkins, better known as Sweet Brown, became an internet star last year after describing an apartment fire in Oklahoma to local reporters.

One of the phrases she used: "Ain't nobody got time for that!'' spawned dozens of autotune remixes and copycat versions.

Antoine Dodson became an internet sensation after ranting to a news television crew about an intruder who broke into his sister's bedroom in Huntsville, Alabama, in 2010.

And of course Australia had its very own "Chk Chk Boom!'' clip back in 2009.

That video featured reveller Clare Werbeloff, then aged 19, describing a shooting in Sydney's Kings Cross nightclub district to local reporters.

Ms Werbeloff later admitted she fabricated her account - but not before the soundbite went viral online.

A TWITTER user is arrested for naming the alleged victim of a TV actor, who has faced court charged with child rape and other sex offences

The 23-year-old man was held today after the actor Michael Le Vell, a star of Coronation Street appeared in court in Manchester, England, on Thursday (AEST), The Daily Mirror reported.

The man, from Cheadle, Greater Manchester, was suspected of tweeting the identification of Le Vell's alleged victim. He was later released on bail.

"Maintaining the anonymity of victims of sex offences is absolutely vital and is something that really helps encourage them to come forward," said Detective Chief Inspector Chris Bridge, of Greater Manchester Police.

"Breaching this ruling is an extremely serious offence and that is why we launched an investigation as soon as we became aware.

"Social media is an immensely powerful tool that does an awful lot of good, but it can also be used to spread rumour, speculation and in this case break the law.

"As a force GMP embraces the use of social media but when it is abused in this way we will take robust action to hold those responsible to account."

Under UK law, victims of all sexual offences are automatically granted anonymity for life under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.

Le Vell, 48, who has played garage boss Kevin Webster for 30 years in the show shown on UKTV in Australia, is accused under his real name of Michael Turner of 19 child sex offences. His solicitor Richard Gawthorpe told ­magistrates Le Vell would contest the charges.
