LOOK who's coming back to The Voice Australia.

In the surprise return Keith Urban fans have been hoping for, the country rocker was part of a secret mission to meet-and-greet his replacement Ricky Martin, in a touching moment which will help relaunch Channel 9's reality series.

Urban crept back onto the Fox Studios lot three months ago, just as Martin was preparing to film the blind auditions, which will finally go to air from this Sunday night.

As his new coaching cohorts showed Martin around The Voice stage, Urban was hidden from their view in his big red chair, before pressing his button one last time to turn around and shock all four superstars.

The closed set stunt left a coy Martin blushing, but he was warmly embraced by the Aussie singer, who agreed to the baton-passing as a final goodwill gesture to the show which helped broaden his fan base in his home country and proved a launchpad for his move to American Idol.

Delta Goodrem, Seal and Joel Madden hugged and kissed Urban, as all four originals shepherded the new boy Martin into Urban's chair.

American Idol arrives on TEN, with new judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Australia’s favourite music export, Keith Urban.

Then came the ceremonial switching of the name tags on the back of seat, removing the last trace of Urban's involvement on the Shine production (at least for now).

Nine's A Current Affair will screen a teaser of Urban's Voice reunion from 6.30pm tonight.

MKR contestants' secret date

THEY might be onscreen competitors, but behind the scenes MKR contestants Matt Newell and Elle Harrison reportedly went on a secret date together.

Amid rumours of love blossoming onset, New Idea has revealed that the rivals went on a date while filming the Channel Seven ratings hit last year.

Sadly for Matt - one half of the father-son duo Mick and Matt - his hopes of a sizzling reality TV romance were shot down in flames by the 22-year-old brunette.

"Yes, we caught up for coffee," Queensland business student Elle tells New Idea.

"Matt is seriously one of the nicest guys I've ever met - he has a beautiful personality - but there was no romance."

Matt, the 20-year-old crowd favourite from Tassie, admitted he asked Elle on a date, but said the two were not currently seeing each other.

"She really is a beautiful girl and we get along well but nothing has progressed there," he told the magazine.

Elle, who competes alongside her brother Jake, said was aware that Matt was keen on her during filming but she was focused purely on the competition and was never looking for love.

"A couple of times he has hinted [that he was interested] and there were whispers but the timing was wrong," she said.

"We were in the middle of a competition and there was a lot of hard work to be done. Plus Matt is only 20 and I'm probably looking for an older guy."

Both have since revealed they have met someone new. "We're going on a date this week but it is very, very early days," Matt spilled on his new love interest.

While Elle joked that her new beau "doesn't deserve recognition yet".

In tonight's episode the already controversial 'gatecrashers' will be invited to dinner for the first time and are tipped to get a roasting from MKR fans.
