SHE is a Hollywood starlet on the rise with a red-hot movie in cinemas and a string of blockbusters to her name.

But, in an unusual change of pace, Adelaide-born Teresa Palmer is set to go back to her roots - literally - next month when she returns to Australia to shoot a low-budget independent flick in her home town cast mostly with friends and family.

Co-written with her new American beau and actor-turned-director Mark Webber, the film The Fun In Forever is to be shot over two weeks in Oz and will mark a serious change of pace for Palmer, whose current zombie flick Warm Bodies is blasting its way through the US box office.

She also recently wrapped a role in Terrence Malick's upcoming Knight Of Cups opposite Christian Bale, set for release later this year.

"I've decided to really try and strike the balance between making movies that serve my soul and movies that pay the bills," Palmer told Confidential yesterday on the phone from LA. "I think it's important to keep some integrity intact but, in saying that, even when I am doing a studio film I try and find something special in my characters."

As well as marking her foray as a producer and co-writer, The Fun In Forever (which she is also partly funding) will also be her first professional collaboration with new beau Webber, who she began dating last year after seeing and being suitably impressed with his flick The End Of Love.

"I saw his movie and I thought it was fantastic so I emailed him and told him how much of a fan I was of his work. So yeah, I guess I was the initiator," laughed Palmer, who was last linked to actor Scott Speedman.

"He replied and said he was a fan of my work too and that led to a few emails and eventually we met.

"I honestly wasn't thinking of it in a romantic way but it was just organic and happened really beautifully. And now I'm the most fulfilled I've ever been in my life."
